Economic Impact: Overseas Indians are key players in the global economy. They contribute to their host countries’ economies through entrepreneurship, skilled labour and investments. Indian-origin professionals, especially in fields like technology, healthcare and finance have been instrumental in shaping global industries. Indian diaspora is also one of the highest average earners among all foreign diaspora in the respective residing country.

Cultural Influence: Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi always says our Pravasis are our Brand Ambassadors of culture to the world, sharing Indian traditions, language, cuisine and festivals with world. Their influence helps to promote understanding and appreciation of Indian culture in diverse societies. Prvasis Bharatiyas truly believes in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (The World is one Family).

Remittances and Development: Indians abroad contribute significantly to their home country’s economy through remittances, which play a crucial role in building India’s dollar reserves and thus help in strengthening Bharat’s economy. The remittances by Pravasis also help in poverty alleviation and development projects in India be it though business or by spending in person. Indian diaspora has been consistently number one since many years in terms of remittance to their home country.  For instance, Indian diaspora remitted 129 billion dollars in 2024.

Social Contributions: Many Pravasi Bharatiyas engage in philanthropic activities, supporting education, healthcare and community development in both their host countries and in India. They often play an active role in building bridges between India and the global community.

Political Impact: Indian diaspora communities have gained political influence in countries like the US, UK and Canada where individuals of Indian origin occupy prominent political offices and advocate for policies that benefit both their host and home countries.

Innovation and Research: Many Indians abroad are leaders in innovation, scientific research & technology and are very highly regarded in STEM apart from other fields. They contribute to advancements in fields like medicine, engineering and space research, enhancing global progress.
